Nigel Pepper opened the scoring for the home side in the tenth minute but six minutes before Half-Time Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink got the equalizer. Three minutes into the second half the same player scored from the penalty spot to give Leeds the lead and, in the sixty-sixth minute, Rod Wallace put the game out of the Bantams reach. At Half-Time, David Wetherall replaced Robert Molenaar at Centre Half and Alf-Inge Haaland took over from Lucas Radebe at Left Half, David Hopkin replaced Pierre Laurent at Outside Right and Bruno Ribeiro came on for Lee Bowyer at Inside Left. For Bradford, Robert Steiner replaced Robbie Blake at Inside Left after sixty-one minutes and Lawrence Davies came on at Outside Left for Peter Beagrie. Mark Beeney, Andy Gray, Derek Lilley and Harry Kewell remained unused on the bench while similarly, Ole Bjorn Sundgot, Jonathan Gould, Andy O'Brien and Dennis Sepp remained unused by City.
